Stirling list

is a Yahoogroups based mailing list that deals with all subjects that are related to:
- S.M.Stirling
- His works
- analysis of his works
- Other authors and their works, mostly alternate history related
- any other subject that can be loosely related to these areas.
The list is well known for having discussion threads that range far from the original subject without changing the subject title.
It has a strongly international membership with an emphasis on intelligence, and friendly, spirited discussion. Some of the more famous listmembers can be found in another article.
The list is also unusual as S.M.Stirling himself often takes part in the discussions - however during discussions of his works his cryptic comments often are rather frustrating to the list members.
The Stirling list also created and uses a number of unusual list acronyms and shorthand figures of speech.
There are only few subjects anathema to this list - these deal mostly with modern politcs, especially those related to the Middle East. Listmembers that veer into these areas are usually urged to "take this matter to the Eye" - this discussion should be closed at that point or transferred to a political sister list, the Lidless Eye.
